The Li Auto L9 Livis enters China’s fast-moving electric vehicle market as a bold new flagship. Li Auto unveiled this SUV in early February 2026 to counter rising competition from brands like Huawei and Zeekr. Building on the success of the original L9, it adds major tech upgrades and luxury features. Moreover, its goal is clear: eliminate range anxiety while offering unmatched intelligence and comfort.

At the heart of the Li Auto L9 Livis lies an EREV—Extended Range Electric Vehicle—powertrain. Electric motors drive the wheels, while a small gasoline engine acts as a generator to keep the battery charged during long trips. Consequently, drivers avoid the stress of finding charging stations. This setup remains especially popular in China, where public charging infrastructure still varies by region. Li Auto refines this proven concept with smarter systems and a more premium feel.

Perhaps the most impressive feature is the intelligent driving system. To support advanced autonomy, Li Auto developed two custom Mach 100 chips using a 5nm process. Together, they deliver 2,560 TOPS of computing power—the highest in any production car today. In addition, three solid-state LiDAR units back up this processing muscle: one on the roof and one on each front fender. As a result, the vehicle gains a full 360-degree view of its surroundings, enabling faster and more accurate decisions than a human driver could make.

Equally groundbreaking is the chassis. The Li Auto L9 Livis introduces an 800V fully active suspension system. It can apply over 10,000 Newtons of force to each wheel independently. Therefore, the SUV stays flat through corners and smooth over rough roads—without traditional anti-roll bars. Furthermore, four-wheel steering improves city maneuverability by significantly reducing the turning circle. The car also pioneers a full “by-wire” system for both steering and braking. In other words, electrical signals replace mechanical linkages, marking a world first for mass-produced vehicles.

Design updates are subtle yet purposeful. The L9 Livis now measures over 5.3 meters long. Flush door handles and a redesigned rear light bar give it a cleaner profile. Meanwhile, two-tone paint options and 22-inch alloy wheels lend it a Maybach-like elegance. Inside, it remains a six-seater focused squarely on family comfort. Indeed, Li Auto continues to market it as a “living room on wheels,” and the cabin fully supports that vision.

All this innovation comes at a higher price. The Li Auto L9 Livis starts at RMB 559,800 (approximately €68,873). That represents an increase of roughly RMB 100,000 over the previous top-tier model. Accordingly, it now competes directly with premium electric SUVs from established luxury brands. Although final specs are pending, early reports suggest a 72.7 kWh battery. If confirmed, this would deliver around 340 km of pure electric range. With the range extender engaged, total range should exceed 1,400 km—matching earlier L9 performance.

For Li Auto, this launch carries significant weight. After a sales dip last year, the company must regain momentum. Fortunately, the L9 Livis combines a trusted EREV platform with cutting-edge hardware. Its active suspension, by-wire controls, and industry-leading computing power set it apart. Ultimately, the Li Auto L9 Livis is more than just a refresh—it is a confident statement in the race to define the future of smart, luxurious, and practical electric mobility.
