The Chery QQ3 EV has officially returned—and it’s making a strong comeback. Chery reopened pre-orders in early February 2026, and deliveries will begin at the end of March. Impressively, the brand received 27,319 pre-orders within just three hours. Clearly, this shows high consumer excitement for the reboot.

Originally launched in 2003, the Chery QQ series was a budget hit in China. At the time, the first QQ3 started at only 29,900 yuan (about $4,100 USD). Moreover, it sold over 40,000 units in its first year alone. Over time, the QQ family—including the QQ6 and QQme—sold more than 1.4 million units before production ended in 2014. Now, Chery is reviving the nameplate as a fully electric vehicle. This time, it blends nostalgic touches with thoroughly modern features.

Visually, the Chery QQ3 EV mixes retro charm with current EV styling. For instance, it features a rounded silhouette, large circular headlights, and matching taillights. The front fascia is smooth and closed—a hallmark of electric vehicles. Additionally, it includes semi-hidden door handles and distinctive “+” shaped alloy wheels. Dual-color side mirrors add a playful note. Importantly, Chery retained beloved design cues from the original. Specifically, you’ll find the “Q” logo on the C-pillar and the “CHERY” badge on the lower doors.

In terms of size, the new model measures 4,195 mm long, 1,811 mm wide, and 1,573 mm tall. It also boasts a 2,700 mm wheelbase. Despite its compact footprint, it offers surprising practicality. Inside, there are 35 storage compartments. Furthermore, the front trunk holds 70 liters, while the rear cargo area starts at 375 liters. When needed, it expands to a generous 1,450 liters. As a result, the Chery QQ3 EV remains agile in cities without sacrificing everyday utility.

Under the skin, power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor. Buyers can choose between two outputs: 58 kW (78 hp) or 90 kW (121 hp), depending on the trim. Energy is supplied by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from Gotion. Although the exact capacity hasn’t been disclosed, the CLTC-rated range spans from 280 km to 401 km. Top speed is limited to 125 km/h. Altogether, these specs make it ideal for urban commuting and weekend errands.

Inside the cabin, digital minimalism meets retro-futuristic flair. A single 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen dominates the dashboard. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, ensuring fast and fluid performance. Other highlights include a dual-tone steering wheel and a rectangular digital instrument panel. Round air vents echo the exterior’s circular theme. In addition, the Chery QQ3 EV supports AI-powered voice interaction, 256-color ambient lighting, and wireless phone charging—features typically reserved for much pricier models.

Given this combination of affordability, emotional design, and smart technology, the Chery QQ3 EV clearly targets young urban drivers and first-time EV buyers. Its explosive pre-order numbers confirm that Chery has successfully tapped into both nostalgia and practicality. With production ramping up and deliveries starting soon, this reborn hatchback could easily become one of China’s most appealing electric vehicles of 2026.
