BAIC Arcfox has launched its latest vehicle, the Arcfox T1 hatchback, targeting the 70,000 yuan (10,000 USD) pure electric small car market. The company designed the T1 for price-conscious buyers, offering an affordable yet stylish EV. It will feature a single electric motor producing 70 kW (94 hp), with pre-sales set to begin in late August.
Compared to its initial debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, the Arcfox T1 now presents a more sporty, dynamic aesthetic. The side profile stands out with 18-inch multi-spoke aluminium alloy wheels, rare in this class. The vehicle’s clean, flowing lines add to its striking visual appeal, while the two-tone design enhances its athletic feel. The black roof and A/B pillars, along with the sporty rear spoiler, complete the bold design.
The Arcfox T1 offers compact and well-proportioned dimensions. It measures 4337 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1572 mm in height, with a 2770 mm wheelbase. These dimensions help the T1 maintain agility, making it ideal for maneuvering in city environments while still providing comfort.
The car houses a 70 kW (94 hp) electric motor. It comes equipped with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery from CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery Technology Group Co., Ltd.). Buyers can choose from two battery options: 41.7 kWh and 42.3 kWh. The respective driving ranges for these options are 410 km and 425 km, making the T1 a suitable choice for daily commutes and short trips.
The Arcfox T1 faces tough competition from the Geely Xingyuan and BYD Seagull, both priced around 9,900 USD. These competitors performed well in June, with the Geely Xingyuan selling 40,891 units and the BYD Seagull moving 30,708 units. However, the Arcfox T1 offers a unique design, strong performance, and an affordable price, which will likely appeal to many consumers in this competitive market.
