Audi’s most modern electric cars, the 2027 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron, have received a mild mid-cycle refresh in the United States. Both vehicles, based on Audi’s 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, are now available for order with several notable updates, including a new steering wheel design, an enhanced infotainment system, and a peculiar feature for a luxury car.

In its official press release, Audi introduced a “Power Nap” mode for the refreshed electric sedan and crossover. This mode is designed to “create a calm and restful atmosphere during charging sessions.” While details are sparse, it seems the car aims to provide a soothing environment, presumably to help drivers take a quick nap while their vehicles charge. However, with both cars capable of charging up to 270 kilowatts, completing a 10% to 80% charge in as little as 21 minutes, it’s unclear how many drivers would actually have time for a nap.

Minor Hardware Changes and Software Enhancements

Despite these novel features, Audi did not increase the range, battery size, or power output of the refreshed models. Instead, the automaker focused on software enhancements and some minor hardware updates. The A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron now feature a redesigned graphical user interface (GUI), making the infotainment system more user-friendly. The integration of smartphone functions has been improved, with navigation, media, and phone interfaces now directly mirrored onto the car’s virtual cockpit.

Additionally, Audi has replaced some capacitive buttons with scroll wheels, making it easier for drivers to control volume and access other features. The steering wheel design, inspired by the Audi Concept C coupe, also contributes to the updated interior aesthetic.

Added Technology Features

One standout addition to the 2027 Audi lineup is the integration of a 4K dashcam, available either as standard equipment or as an optional extra across both the A6 Sportback e-tron and Q6 e-tron. This camera, located at the base of the interior rear-view mirror, records HDR video and high-definition photos onto an SD card. The footage, which includes navigation data, speed, and time, can be played back on the car’s central infotainment screen.

The 2027 S6 Sportback e-tron also introduces a new drive mode called Dynamic Plus. This mode allows for controlled oversteer, providing drivers with more control when pushing the car to its limits.

Pricing and Range

The refreshed 2027 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron starts at $67,995 (including destination fees) and offers a maximum EPA-estimated range of 395 miles with the Ultra Package. Powered by a 94.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a 375-horsepower rear-mounted motor, the A6 Sportback e-tron provides a balance of performance and efficiency.

For those interested in more power, the Quattro all-wheel-drive model is available for an additional $2,000, delivering 456 horsepower. The sporty S6 Sportback e-tron offers 543 horsepower and starts from $80,895.

The 2027 Q6 e-tron crossover is available exclusively with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The base model delivers 456 horsepower and offers up to 325 miles of range, starting at $65,795. The SQ6 e-tron, a sportier variant with 509 horsepower, starts at $74,495, while the coupe-like Q6 e-tron Sportback is also available in this lineup. All versions of the Q6 e-tron use the same 94.4 kWh battery as the A6 Sportback e-tron.

With these updates, Audi continues to refine its electric vehicle offerings, balancing technology, performance, and luxury in its latest electric models.
