Jaecoo has extended its introductory offer for the J5 EV to a second group of 1,000 customers. Strong demand drove the decision. The SUV first launched in December at a driveaway price of $36,990 for the initial 1,000 buyers. Now, the same deal applies to the next 1,000.
Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer at Omoda Jaecoo, said feedback from dealers and the public was overwhelmingly positive. “Order books filled quickly after they opened in late December,” he said. “We’re happy to let more people experience our latest new energy vehicle.”
The company also added a black interior option. It joins the original light-colored cabin. Both choices are available to the first 2,000 customers at no extra cost.
The Jaecoo J5 EV targets practical, adventure-minded drivers. It uses a 58.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. This delivers 402 km of WLTP range. Fast charging brings the battery from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
A key feature is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality. It lets owners power camping gear, tools, or home appliances during outages. This makes the SUV ideal for outdoor trips or emergencies.
Power comes from a front-mounted 155 kW electric motor. It produces 288 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 7.7 seconds—solid for a mid-size family EV.
Inside, the cabin is well-equipped. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, and a panoramic glass roof with sunshade. Dual-zone climate control and acoustic glass on front doors reduce noise.
The seats use a special pet-friendly synthetic leather. Made from silicone-based material, it resists wear, fights bacteria, and wipes clean easily—perfect for dogs and active lifestyles.
Tech highlights include a 13.2-inch vertical infotainment screen. It supports wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel. Voice control works with the phrase “Hello Jaecoo.”
Other conveniences include a 50W wireless charger, remote start with air conditioning memory, and a 360° around-view monitor for tight parking.
Jaecoo backs the J5 EV with strong coverage. Buyers get an 8-year unlimited kilometre warranty. They also receive 8 years of capped-price servicing and an 8-year unlimited kilometre battery warranty—among the best in Australia’s EV market.
With high interest already clear, upcoming sales data will show how smoothly deliveries go. The company plans to share real-world ownership insights soon. For now, the J5 EV’s mix of value, practicality, and pet-friendly design is clearly winning buyers over.
