Cadillac EVs Beat Official Range in Real-World Tests

For most EV shoppers, one number matters most: range. How far can you drive before plugging in? Automakers advertise EPA or WLTP estimates — and until now, buyers assumed those figures were optimistic. But here’s the twist: recent real-world tests show Cadillac’s newest electric SUVs don’t just meet their range ratings — they beat them. By a lot.

This is great news for drivers tired of “range anxiety.” Cadillac, it seems, chose to under-promise — and over-deliver. In an EV market full of inflated claims, that’s refreshingly honest.

Let’s start with the 2025 Cadillac Optiq. The Sport 2 trim tested by Edmunds packs an 85 kWh battery and carries an official EPA range of 486 km. Yet in real-world driving, it cruised to 546 km — a 12% gain. That’s 60 extra kilometers — or 37 extra miles — on a single charge. Even better? It used just 29.8 kWh per 161 km — more efficient than its EPA-rated 33 kWh.

Size-wise, the Optiq measures 4,826 mm long — slightly longer than a Tesla Model Y (4,750 mm). It’s also taller and nearly as wide. For crossover shoppers, this makes the Optiq a direct — and now more compelling — alternative. Especially when real-world range outperforms the competition.

Need more space? Meet the Vistiq — Cadillac’s three-row electric SUV. Positioned between the Lyriq and the massive Escalade IQ, the Vistiq 900 E4 model tested by Edmunds runs on a 102 kWh battery and dual-motor AWD. Its EPA range? 491 km. Real-world result? 538 km — a 9% boost. Even this larger, heavier SUV delivers extra miles when it counts.

This isn’t luck. Both models ride on GM’s Ultium platform — a flexible, scalable architecture powering all of GM’s new EVs. Its efficiency, thermal management, and energy recovery systems clearly work — and work well. Cadillac’s engineering team didn’t chase headline numbers. They chased real-world reliability. And it shows.

The results speak for themselves. Cadillac just posted its best first-half sales since 2008 — driven largely by EV growth. Buyers aren’t just impressed by luxury or tech. They’re trusting Cadillac because it delivers — literally — more than promised.

In short, the Cadillac EV range isn’t a theoretical limit. It’s a starting point. Whether you’re commuting, road-tripping, or hauling the family, these SUVs go farther — and do it more efficiently. In a market where trust is hard-earned, Cadillac is building it — one extra mile at a time.
