Opel Mokka Electric GSE Review

The Opel Mokka Electric GSE (2025) enters the compact EV segment with strong promise. It offers real usability mixed with performance. With a usable battery of 50.8 kWh and a WLTP range of ≈ 336 km, it stands out among urban electric SUVs.

Price & Availability

Opel has opened orders as of September 2025. Prices vary by country:

  • UK: £35,495
  • Netherlands: €43,999
  • Germany: €47,300

Prices exclude incentives and local taxes. Therefore, total cost may differ significantly by region.

Range & Efficiency

The vehicle achieves a “real range” of approx 280 km in mild conditions. In colder weather, range drops: highway estimates fall to ~195 km. Combined average is around 235-320 km depending on climate and driving.

Efficiency sits at 181 Wh/km under real-world conditions. WLTP rated consumption is approx 185 Wh/km. As a result, it remains competitive with rivals in energy cost per kilometre.

Battery & Charging

The Opel Mokka Electric GSE uses a lithium-ion battery with NCM811 chemistry. It packs 54.0 kWh nominal, 50.8 kWh usable. Warranty covers 8 years or 160,000 km.

For home charging, it supports up to 11 kW AC. Full home recharge (0 → ~280 km) takes about 5h30m.

On the road, DC fast-charging gives up to 100 kW, handling 10-80% ~26 minutes with roughly 85 kW average.

Performance & Dynamics

Performance is sharp: 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 200 km/h. Torque peaks around 345 Nm. The drive is front-wheel drive.

These stats push the GSE closer to sporty electric crossovers than basic city EVs. Moreover, its acceleration rivals many midsize EVs — especially off the line.

Dimensions, Cargo & Practical Use

The Mokka Electric GSE is compact. It measures 4,150 mm long, 1,787 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall. Wheelbase is 2,561 mm. Carrying capacity includes 463 kg payload.

Cargo space is decent: about 310 litres with seats up; 1,060 litres max when folded. Roof load maxes at 74 kg.

Seats five. Includes three ISOFIX points. Turning circle around 10.4 m, which helps manoeuvre in tight city spots.

Weaknesses & Long-Distance Suitability

The GSE is less suited for long trips. Its 1-Stop Range (one charging stop included) rates only 1.5 out of 5. At highway speeds in cold weather, real range drops markedly.

Also, bidirectional charging (V2X / V2H / V2L) is not supported. Battery preconditioning via navigation is also not available, which could limit efficiency in extreme conditions.

The Opel Mokka Electric GSE blends sporty performance, usable range, and compact practicality. For city dwellers or mid-distance users it fits well. However, its decline in range in cold weather and modest highway performance under challenging conditions limit its appeal for long-distance drivers.
