Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ Review: Specs, Range & Design

The CLA 250+ marks Mercedes’ bold step into the compact luxury EV segment. It combines long range, fast charging, and innovative technology. Consequently, it sets a new benchmark for what a stylish, efficient electric sedan can deliver.

Powertrain & Performance

The CLA 250+ uses a rear-mounted synchronous electric motor that delivers 272 hp and 335 Nm of torque. Interestingly, Mercedes adds a two-speed transmission to enhance both acceleration and highway efficiency. Thanks to its dual-gear setup, the car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in about 6.7 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 210 km/h.

Battery, Range & Efficiency

The sedan rides on an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery, fed by an efficient 800-volt architecture. According to WLTP tests, it achieves an impressive 792 km of range in its most efficient setup. Even in real-world conditions, you can expect over 560 km on a single charge. Efficiency ranges between 12.2 to 14.1 kWh per 100 km, depending on driving style and weather.

Charging Speed & Technology

Thanks to its 800V system, the CLA 250+ charges incredibly fast. A 10-minute DC fast charge can add up to 325 km of range. Furthermore, it supports Plug & Charge and automatic preconditioning via navigation, ensuring optimal battery temperatures before arriving at a charger.

Interior & Design

Inside, the CLA wows with the latest MBUX Superscreen setup, including a driver’s display and central infotainment. Moreover, the cabin uses high-quality, sustainable materials like hemp-trimmed panels and upscale finishes. It also sports a panoramic roof that improves headroom and injects a sleek look.

Practicality & Build

Built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), the sedan offers clean, aerodynamic lines and advanced structural efficiency. It supports roof rails and even includes a hidden front trunk (frunk). Furthermore, the optional Shooting Brake version adds more cargo space and rear headroom while keeping the EV’s performance and charging benefits intact.

In summary, the CLA 250+ combines elegance, range, and modern EV efficiency. With its fast charging, two-speed transmission, and premium interior, it strikes an impressive balance between luxury and utility. If you’re looking for a sleek and capable EV that blends innovation with practicality, this model sets a high bar.
