In a series of videos, @300k.mile.tesla shared his experiences with significant battery problems in his electric vehicle. The Tesla owner documented moments when his car could no longer achieve its maximum charge level. In one clip, he showed notifications on his Tesla warning that the battery threshold had depleted significantly after 318,639 miles of use.

In another video, he said the total cost of battery replacement plus installation came to $5,000. He noted that the price can vary depending on the specific model of Tesla and where the work is done.

Fixing EV Batteries for Less

As more electric vehicles hit the road, demand for affordable battery repair and replacement has grown. Many independent shops now offer less expensive solutions than official service centers. According to Recurrent Auto, replacing a Tesla battery at an official Tesla service center can cost anywhere from $15,000 to $22,000.

Some battery specialists can repair cars by replacing individual faulty cells rather than installing a full battery. InsideEVs reported on a case where a man bought a used 2014 Model S with a bad battery pack for $10,000. A repair expert diagnosed the issue as a single defective cell and replaced it for $5,000, bringing the total cost to $15,000. That price was far lower than what a full battery replacement or a newer used vehicle would have cost.

Other Tesla Issues

In addition to battery challenges, @300k.mile.tesla documented other problems with his car. In one video, he said he received repeated warnings that his cruise control and automatic hold functions were disabled.

Frustrated by the issue, he also shared a clip in which he complained about paying $240 for a diagnostic check at a service center. He felt the response he received was inadequate and called it a “cop out.” In an updated post, he said that after following Tesla’s recommendation to replace his tires, the warning messages went away. His Autopilot and automatic hold features then began working normally again.

Although this Tesla owner faced several maintenance challenges, his experience highlights how third‑party repairs and targeted fixes can help EV owners manage repair costs, especially as vehicles age and accumulate high mileage.
