Tesla has expanded its Model Y lineup in Europe with the introduction of the Standard Long Range RWD variant, offering an impressive 657 km of WLTP range. This update was announced via a post from Tesla Europe & Middle East on its official social media account, X.
Model Y Standard Long Range RWD Details
The new Model Y Standard Long Range RWD offers some of the most notable features in the Model Y lineup, including 657 km of WLTP range and an impressive 2,118 liters of cargo volume. What stands out most, however, is its energy efficiency, consuming just 12.7 kWh per 100 km, making it the most efficient Model Y to date.
This new variant provides a more affordable entry point for those looking to join the Tesla ecosystem without opting for the higher-priced variants. While the Model 3 Standard remains more affordable, many consumers may prefer the Model Y Standard due to its larger size and crossover form factor. Additionally, the Model Y Standard is equipped with Tesla’s AI4 computer, positioning it for the eventual rollout of Full Self-Driving (FSD) in the region.
Availability in Europe
The Model Y Standard Long Range RWD is now available in Europe, offering 657 km of range (WLTP), 12.7 kWh per 100 km efficiency, and 2118 liters of cargo volume.
Top Gear Review of the Model Y Standard
In a recent review, Top Gear praised the Model Y Standard for its real-world range, impressive infotainment system, and spacious interior. The publication highlighted that the Model Y Standard still retains many of the features that make Tesla vehicles highly regarded, despite a simplified interior.
Top Gear also compared the Model Y Standard to its competitors, noting that its entry price puts it in line with similar vehicles in the segment. The review pointed out that the Model Y Standard is actually cheaper than a Peugeot e-3008 and costs £5k less than an entry-level Audi Q4 e-tron. It also made the Ford Mustang Mach-E look a bit less competitive with its higher entry price and worse range.
This launch further solidifies Tesla’s position in the electric vehicle market, offering a practical yet high-performance choice for consumers in Europe.
