Used Electric SUVs are now a smart choice for budget-conscious buyers. New electric vehicles can be expensive, but depreciation has made older EVs a hidden treasure. Many used models offer the latest tech, long driving ranges, and fast-charging abilities without the sticker shock. For those looking to upgrade without breaking the bank, the used EV market is bursting with deals that were unthinkable just a few years ago.

Depreciation hits electric cars harder than gas-powered vehicles. While that may worry first owners, it’s great news for used buyers. Battery degradation, once a major concern, has proven slower and less dramatic than expected. This means many used electric SUVs still deliver strong range and dependable performance years after their initial sale. For shoppers in 2025, the value is undeniable.

Among the best all-around options is the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It combines sharp design, spacious interiors, and fast 800V charging. You can find 2022 models for around $25,000 to $30,000. Its performance feels agile, and the ride quality suits both daily driving and weekend trips. It even holds up well in cold climates like Michigan. The Ioniq 5 offers between 220 and 303 miles of range, depending on configuration.

If luxury is your aim, the BMW iX should be on your radar. Once priced like a premium X5, used models now go for under $50,000. The iX boasts a refined cabin, air suspension, and AWD with over 300 miles of range. Its high-speed charging and software reliability make it an excellent road-trip companion. Owners rave about its comfort and confident handling. For a luxury used electric SUV, few others balance performance and features as well.

Need a family-friendly three-row? The Rivian R1S is worth considering. While still relatively expensive at $63,000 to $70,000 used, it brings unmatched power and off-road ability. The R1S features 316 miles of range and massive interior space. It also hauls gear and passengers effortlessly. Though newer models ride better, earlier versions still deliver immense utility. The R1S isn’t for everyone, but for families seeking rugged electric power, it’s the best of the bunch.

Looking for something under $30,000? The Kia EV6 is a compelling choice. Sharing much with the Ioniq 5, it has a sportier look and snappy driving dynamics. Early used models are already dipping below $30,000, especially in rear-wheel-drive form. With up to 310 miles of range and ultra-fast charging, it’s a great deal. EV6 owners love its styling, responsiveness, and range, though some wish for better software integration.

For those hunting for used electric SUVs below $20,000, the Volkswagen ID.4 stands out. It’s practical and comfortable, offering up to 260 miles of range. Though early software versions had issues, many problems have been resolved in later updates. The ID.4 is easy to drive, has solid cargo capacity, and resembles a familiar gas SUV in feel. If you want value over flash, this is a great pick.

Tesla fans looking to save should consider the Model Y. With used prices between $20,000 and $30,000, it delivers long range, excellent software, and access to Tesla’s unmatched Supercharger network. It’s one of the most popular used electric SUVs on the market for good reason. Despite its ties to Elon Musk’s public persona, the Model Y itself excels in utility and driving enjoyment.

Another hidden gem is the Jaguar I-Pace. Though it launched with fanfare, sales never took off. This makes it a depreciation king—now available at 70% off original price. The I-Pace still looks modern, handles well, and includes over 390 horsepower. Range tops out around 234 miles, and the luxury interior remains competitive. Just be aware of slower charging on pre-2021 models.

As electric vehicles mature, their value on the used market grows. Automakers are selling more EVs than ever, pushing older models into affordability. With cars like the EV6, Ioniq 5, and Model Y flooding dealerships, 2025 is a great year to shop smart. Many used electric SUVs now deliver tech, safety, and performance that rivals current new cars—at half the price or less.

Shoppers should also consider upcoming lease returns of newer models like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9. But even now, today’s used options offer range, comfort, and features for under $30,000. That makes switching to electric more accessible for families and individuals alike. Whether you want luxury, practicality, or off-road adventure, the used electric SUV market has something for you.
