The Nio Firefly EV is a compact electric hatchback designed for urban life. It combines affordability, strong performance, and modern technology. With its global rollout already underway, the Firefly is positioned to attract first-time EV buyers and city drivers who value practicality.

Design and Performance

The Nio Firefly EV measures 4,003 mm in length, making it agile in tight city spaces. A 105 kW motor delivers 141 hp to the rear wheels, achieving 0–100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The top speed reaches 150 km/h, which is enough for daily driving.

Because of its 50:50 weight balance and multilink suspension, the Firefly handles corners with confidence. In addition, the turning radius of just 4.7 meters allows smooth maneuvering. At 1,492 kg, the car feels light yet safe, supported by an 83% high-strength steel frame.

Battery, Range, and Charging

The Nio Firefly EV carries a 42.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery from Sunwoda. It achieves a WLTP range of 330 km. In real-world use, drivers can expect about 240 km in mild weather and 200 km in colder conditions.

Charging is straightforward. With DC fast charging at 100 kW, the battery goes from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. At home, an 11 kW AC charger restores a full charge in around 4.5 hours. Consequently, the Firefly works well both for commutes and for weekend trips.

Price, Launch, and Market Expansion

The Nio Firefly EV launched in China in April 2025. European deliveries began in August 2025, with Norway and the Netherlands as the first markets. Pricing starts at €29,900 in the Netherlands and NOK 279,900 in Norway.

Nio will expand the Firefly into more than 15 European countries by the end of 2026. The company also plans entry into Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. These moves underline its ambition to make the Firefly a global entry-level EV.

Inside, the Firefly impresses with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 6-inch digital cluster, Dolby Atmos sound, and customizable ambient lighting. Over-the-air updates keep features fresh. In Europe, HERE Technologies powers the navigation and Intelligent Speed Assistance, adding convenience and safety.

Overall, the Nio Firefly EV blends price, performance, and technology in a compact body. With its competitive launch strategy and strong features, it promises to become one of the most appealing affordable EVs on the market.
