The Jeep Compass EV appeared in new leaks just days before its official unveiling. The rugged electric SUV runs on the STLA Medium platform, the same one used by the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008.
Battery Options and Powertrains
Jeep plans to offer the Compass EV with two battery packs: 73kWh and 98kWh. The 73kWh battery powers both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) models. The FWD variant produces 210 horsepower, while the AWD version pushes 320 horsepower.
Buyers looking for longer range can opt for the 98kWh battery, available only in the FWD model. Jeep prioritizes efficiency with this option, making it ideal for long-distance drivers.
Charging Capabilities
The Compass EV uses a 400V system and supports 160kW DC fast charging. It charges from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes under optimal conditions.
For AC charging, it supports 11kW as standard. A 22kW upgrade may be available to speed up home or workplace charging.
Rugged Yet Modern Exterior Design
Jeep embraces a rugged look for the Compass EV. It stands apart from its Peugeot siblings with muscular styling, bold body lines, and aggressive wheel arches.
The SUV’s design reinforces Jeep’s off-road heritage. For adventure lovers, it offers more visual appeal than sleek, city-focused electric crossovers.
Interior Features and Tech Integration
Inside, the Compass EV balances tech and practicality. A wireless phone charging pad sits near the center console next to a drive mode selector.
The infotainment display features a wide rectangular screen. Below it, physical buttons and a rotary knob allow easy control. A head-up display (HUD) adds to the driving convenience by projecting information onto the windshield.
STLA Medium Platform Synergy
The Compass EV benefits from the STLA Medium platform, which brings multiple advantages:
- Advanced battery technology for better energy density
- Support for multiple drivetrain setups
- Flexible size configurations
These features help position the Jeep Compass EV as both efficient and highly capable, especially in the electric SUV segment.
Expected Launch Timeline
Jeep began teasing the Compass EV in October. Its unveiling is likely to happen next week. Production will start in Europe later this year, with international markets expected to follow.
While the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008 offer refinement, Jeep provides off-road credibility. This could attract buyers in regions like North America, where rugged utility matters most.
