Lucid Motors is bringing hands-free driving and automated lane changes to its Air sedan and Gravity SUV. The features arrive via a new over-the-air (OTA) software update, expanding the capabilities of its DreamDrive Pro system.
Air owners will receive the update on July 30. Gravity drivers will get it later this year. However, only vehicles equipped with DreamDrive Pro will support the new features.
How the System Works
The new driver-assist features function on compatible divided highways. When a driver activates the turn signal, the vehicle performs a hands-free lane change. This improvement highlights Lucid’s vision for software-defined vehicles, which use 32 sensors, including lidar, radar, and cameras.
“With our in-house software and sensor suite, we plan to deliver even more features in future updates,” said Kai Stepper, Lucid’s Vice President of ADAS and Autonomous Driving.
What You Get with DreamDrive Pro
All Lucid EVs include the standard DreamDrive system, offering features like emergency braking, blind spot alerts, and lane protection. DreamDrive Pro adds advanced hardware such as lidar, ultrasonic sensors, and 360° cameras. It costs $2,500 extra on Air trims (excluding Sapphire) and $6,750 on the Gravity SUV.
Lucid’s sales performance is also rising. In Q2 2025, Lucid built 3,863 vehicles (up 83% year-over-year) and delivered 3,309 cars (up 38%). In the first half of the year, it produced 6,075 units and delivered 6,418—both up more than 45%.
