Cadillac EVs Tesla drivers—it’s a rising trend as Cadillac reports its strongest quarter since 2008. In early 2025, retail sales rose 21%, driven by three new EVs: the Optiq, Vistiq, and Escalade IQ.

Cadillac now offers a full lineup of electric luxury SUVs. Brad Granz, Cadillac’s global marketing director, said these vehicles are attracting buyers from rival brands, especially Tesla. During a showcase for the Vistiq, he told CNBC that 80% of Cadillac EV buyers had never owned a Cadillac before.

“We see the opportunity to increase the conquest rate for Tesla, absolutely,” Granz said. Cadillac’s data confirms it—25% of Lyriq buyers came from Tesla, up from the previous range of 10% to 15%.

As Cadillac expands its lineup, it’s gaining ground in the competitive luxury EV segment. According to S&P Global Mobility data, Tesla still led in March 2025 with over 51,000 EV registrations. However, Cadillac’s EV registrations jumped 86%, landing the brand in eighth place.

The surge reflects a growing interest in Cadillac’s electric offerings. The Lyriq midsize SUV sits alongside the compact Optiq, the three-row Vistiq, and the flagship Escalade IQ. The $54,390 Optiq, which rivals the Tesla Model Y in size, delivers a range of up to 302 miles.

The new Vistiq, described as a “mini Escalade,” starts at $78,790 and offers spacious three-row seating. Meanwhile, the Escalade IQ starts at $130,000 and delivers premium features. Cadillac will soon add the Celestiq, a hand-built EV priced near $340,000.

Interestingly, most Cadillac EV shoppers don’t even consider Tesla. Data from Edmunds shows that cross-shopping between Cadillac and Tesla remains minimal. Instead, Lyriq buyers often compare models like the Acura ZDX, Ford Mustang Mach-E, BMW iX, and Kia EV9.

Granz emphasized Cadillac’s bold ambitions: “Now that the Vistiq completes our SUV portfolio, we’re positioned to become the No. 1 tier-one luxury EV brand.” Notably, he excluded Tesla from that comparison, highlighting Cadillac’s focus on premium design and customer experience.

Despite Tesla’s leadership, its recent challenges—including CEO Elon Musk’s political statements—may have contributed to the shift. Cadillac’s gains suggest that EV buyers are looking for alternatives that offer refinement and brand trust.

In conclusion, the momentum behind Cadillac EVs Tesla drivers shows no signs of slowing. With strong product launches and a growing conquest rate, Cadillac may redefine the luxury EV race in 2025 and beyond.
