Jiangling Motors Corporation Limited (JMC) is a Chinese automobile manufacturer specializing in commercial vehicles, SUVs, pickup trucks, and electric vehicles (EVs). Headquartered in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China, JMC is jointly controlled by Changan Automobile and Jiangling Motors Corporation Group (JMCG).
JMC is publicly traded on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with Ford Motor Company as a major stakeholder, holding a 32% equity share.

History
Founding and Early Years (1947–1993)
- 1947: JMC’s origins trace back to a truck repair shop in Nanchang, known as Nanchang Motors Repair Factory.
- 1968: The company began assembling vehicles, marking its entry into the automotive manufacturing industry.
- 1993: JMC became a joint-stock company following approval from the Jiangxi Province Economic Restructuring Commission.
- 1993 & 1995: JMC’s A-shares and B-shares were listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
Ford Partnership and Expansion (1995–2000s)
- 1995: Ford Motor Company acquired a 20% stake in JMC, becoming the second-largest shareholder.
- 1997: The first JMC-Ford joint vehicle, the Ford Transit, was introduced, marking the beginning of JMC’s collaboration with Ford.
- 1998: Ford increased its stake to 30%, reinforcing its commitment to the Chinese market.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, JMC expanded its presence in international markets, initially selling vehicles in Egypt and the Middle East. By 2021, Chile became JMC’s largest overseas market.
Growth and Heavy-Duty Vehicle Expansion (2010–2021)
- 2010: JMC launched its first passenger SUV, the Yusheng S350, under the JMC Yusheng sub-brand.
- 2013: JMC acquired Changan Taiyuan, rebranding it as JMC Heavy Duty Vehicle, marking its entry into the heavy-duty truck segment.
- 2021: JMC Heavy Duty Vehicle was sold to Volvo Trucks. However, the acquisition was later terminated, leaving JMC Heavy Duty Vehicle as a wholly owned subsidiary.
- May 2023: Production and sales of JMC Heavy Duty Vehicles were suspended.
Ford Joint Venture Expansion (2021–Present)
- December 2021: JMC and Ford established Jiangling Ford Motor Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a joint venture for producing passenger cars.
- JMC holds a 51% stake, while Ford owns 49%.
- January 2022: Ford and JMC created “Ford Beyond”, a distribution channel brand for Ford’s passenger vehicles in China.
